Ebony

Ebony was born with a condition called Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy. It basically means her brain was starved of oxygen during her birth. We spent 2 weeks in NICU at Southampton hospital and were told she may never walk, talk or have much independence and that it was a wait and see scenario which were words I HATED for the first few years of her life!

Since then due to her brain injury she has been diagnosed with a range of conditions including Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum disorder, sensory processing disorder and eating disorders so she is tube fed. She is also profoundly deaf and has Bilateral cochlear implants and is learning British sign language.

Our first meeting with Amelia's rainbow charity changed Ebony's way of life. They kindly funded an IPAD with speech software which gave her a way to communicate. Since then, they have funded us to have days out at theme parks and held fun days so we can meet other families, and also provide "elves" at Xmas. Our favourite has been our very first stay at their adapted caravan "Amelias Haven" at Rockley park. It was so much fun and other than food and a small deposit was all included. We are truly forever grateful to all the wonderful people at this amazing charity, and they have become firm lifelong friends.❤️
