Iyla-Rose is a happy, outgoing 11-year-old young lady who, despite facing significant challenges since birth, continues to shine with strength, resilience, and bravery. She was born with complex medical needs, spinal and spinal cord abnormalities, including Klippel-Feil Syndrome — a condition involving the fusion of multiple bones in the upper torso, which can also affect vital organs.
Iyla attends hospital almost weekly, supported by a team of 22 consultants, and undergoes major spinal surgery every six months to adjust the rods in her spine and rib cage. Each time, she courageously relearns how to balance and walk again. She also lives with daily spinal cord–related pain, spasms, and pins and needles. Despite more than 20 operations so far, she remains loving, caring, and full of joy — truly the brightest star in every room.
Family time means everything to Iyla, and as a family with 2 younger children , Amelia’s Rainbow has given us memories we will treasure forever. From Amelia’s Retreat and Amelia’s Haven to beach huts, Easter and Christmas events, and fundraisers, they have supported us through every stage of our journey, always welcoming our whole family with open arms.
We are incredibly grateful to Amelia’s Rainbow for the love, care, and opportunities they give to families like ours, allowing us to create precious moments, find comfort, and experience light during the most difficult times.
Thank you so much for reading, donating, and helping our family — and many others — create many more special memories 💛
