We are a Dorset based charity that supports local children who have serious, chronic illness or terminal illness or disability.
It is our aim to enhance learning, play, accoutrements or memory making through our services. We were set up by a local family who lost their daughter Amelia to an aggressive form of childhood cancer in 2010.
Amelia was fun loving and generous to the core. Whilst receiving treatment Amelia used some of her money to buy an Xbox for one of her friends with whom she had spent time within the hospital.
She appreciated the gifts that she had benefited from; but felt that other children should also have the same. After her passing, her parents Karl and Chantel used her inspiration to help other families in need.
The Amelia Grace Rainbow Fund was officially set up in 2012 and now goes by the name of Amelia’s Rainbow.
We help over 170 families a year and over the last 13 years we have given out hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of grants/gifts. The Rainbow Gifts applications are often diverse with examples including iPad’s, adapted tricycles, laptops with speech therapy software and social activities such as swimming or dancing lessons.
We believe in the power of family and making memories, so in 2015 we purchased a holiday home “Amelia’s Retreat” outside Highcliffe. The home is fully funded through donations and is free for our families to book and use. The charity also has a beach hut in Bournemouth which families can use free of charge…whatever the weather!
Amelia’s Rainbow is a needs driven charity and we are seeing an increase in the number of families that require our support. We believe in working within our community to create a network of support and provide a conduit to allow others to help families in Dorset.

As Charity Manager I am responsible for the running of our charity including it's services, fundraising and delivering objectives. It's such a privilege to work with so many passionate people all wanting to help others. We pride ourselves on building great relationships with the families we support and also with the fundraisers and volunteers who support them. Whether it's having fun at events , becoming Christmas Elves or even providing a listening ear I'm proud to lead a fantastic team. I am a firm believer that people should give when they can but also take when they need. My role is to keep Amelia's Rainbow the perfect charity to embrace that ethos.
Interests: Out of Work I find it relaxing by spending time with friends and family this includes singing with the amazing Funky Little Choir. I'm also a film fan and relax by watching movies (especially if they're Marvel). I always need a creative focus so enjoy creating outfits and accessories so I can go to festivals and vintage events looking sharp.
Hi, I am Sarah and I'm the Charity Administrator for Amelia's Rainbow. In my role, I have the privilege of connecting with families and hearing their unique stories. I enjoy working with supporters , volunteers and we always have fun whilst supporting the charity's goals. Supporting families and helping make a difference in their lives is what makes my role so worthwhile.
Interests: Outside of work, I enjoy going for long walks, catching up with friends over a hot chocolate and baking cakes. I also have healthy obsession for Formula 1.
Amelia’s Rainbow was born from the incredible support from friends, family and the local community our family received during Amelia’s journey. I continue to see that amazing community spirit through our work, creating tangible joy, memories and enrichment for other families navigating similar paths. My role on the Trustee Board is to ensure our values and Amelia's legacy remains in all we do.
Interests: Who has hobbies with a 10 year old! I spend a lot of time building Lego and standing outside watching football or cycling with my son. And try and squeeze in some art when I can!
Hi I'm Maxine As Amelia’s Aunty, I have been a part of Amelia’s Rainbow since it was first established in 2012. Being there from "the very beginning" means I have seen the charity grow from our family's personal mission to a vital support system for over 170 families across Dorset every year. My role isn't just about fundraising or volunteering; it's about honoring Amelia’s legacy of generosity and to help carry on her spirit of making sure other children have the same opportunities for happiness that she valued so much.
Interests: I don't have time for hobbies - we've just bought a horse!
I’m Craig - a Chartered Financial Planner and Managing Director of Skybound Wealth UK, with over 25 years in financial services. I’m passionate about helping people plan confidently for the future and about making a positive difference beyond the day job.
I'm so proud to be involved with Amelia's Rainbow because behind every fundraising event or toy appeal is a child and a family facing challenges most of us can’t begin to imagine. I’ve seen first-hand the strength of these families and the incredible difference small acts of kindness can make. If we can create moments of joy, relief and hope during the toughest of times, then every effort is worth it.
Interests: I’m always looking for the next challenge. I took up running a few years ago and completed the London Marathon last year, with the Great North Run and Great South Run ahead this year. I love travel, photography, dogs and spending valuable time with my partner Tamsin - and I’m passionate about raising money and awareness for the charities I’m involved with.
Hi, I'm Poppy and I've been part of Amelia's Rainbow all my life! I'm passionate about fundraising and getting donations. My skills are pricing stock, manning stalls and attending events. I feel proud to be an important part of the team and contribute to such a meaningful cause as Amelia's Rainbow Ambassador. Plus I enjoy going out for cake meetings with Farah, Sarah and Mum.
Hobbies: For my 13th birthday I've become the proud owner of a new horse Foxy . I'm a passionate rider and enjoy unwinding and enjoying the outdoors.
